So much "growth"! JW Land double sided coin
by thedepressedsoul ini'm finding it more and more funny how every wt article for the public or congregation, including jw broadcast talks about all this "growth" and how fast jehovha's organization is speeding up!
yet everything behind closed doors, insider information, elder letters and sales paint a very different picture.
i have news for you gb members!

Orphan crow,
So I would LOVE to know more about how they are getting paid from goverments for literacy aids. Can you please help me out here or point me to a thread where you have your research.
You are an awesome member of this group. Research at this level takes a particular mind. No wonder the crows liked you so much.

DECEPTIVE JW ELDERS - CASE#2
by Amazing indeceptive jw elders case#2 .
appointing spiritually qualified men to take the lead and serve as elders and overseers has been a feature of watch tower congregational organization since about 1972. jws were told in talks at conventions, in literature, and finally in the two versions of the organization book that the biblical criteria is used when elders meet to consider some men for appointment as an elder.
jws are also told that these qualified men are already appointed first by holy spirit, and then as the congregation is lead by that spirit to recognize them, the elders meeting is a confirmation of what god has done.

Having gone through much of this.....I am a bit dizzy. Funny, not entirely uninteresting, and generally I suppose I don't really get it.
FM can you help me with one small factoid? Are you a JW or former JW. Just curious.
thanks.

Question about the fade
by The Big Machine ini know there are a lot of threads on here about fading and i've read a lot of them, but i have a question that i haven't found the answer to yet.. what would happen if you move to a new congregation (or at least tell your old congregation that you are moving and to have your records moved), and you don't go to any meetings?
i see lots of the fading strategies say to go to some meetings and show your face until your name is announced.
what exactly happens if you don't go to meetings in the new congregation?.

So technically for it to work properly, you need to go to a couple meetings at the "new" hall. that way things move over seamlessly. You can go to enough that you are considered a weak one. then stop going all together. Wear your pants too high, and shuffle around looking at your belt buckle and eating fritos with dirty fingernails.
You won't get any visits.

My introduction and confession
by elderINewton inwell another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.
i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.
i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

Welcome. we have all been there. Leaving is just the beginning. the beginning of freedom. and eventually......you won't even care what others think. You will be too busy living your life. Take care of your family, and stick around here and help others since that is important to you. Your stories, what you have seen, the letters, advise to those leaving......all very evaluable as a member of a board like this.
So if you need support. You are in the right place. If you love to help.....you are also in the right place.

Disfellowshipped at 18
by asensier inyou can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.
he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.
we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

So young.
I think most here would say its good you found all of this out now. 18 and living together is rough as well. be careful. And think long term with your decisions.
I agree that you should call yor family and let them know they understand that what they are doing they THINK to be Gods will, but it is in part hat the religion is telling you to break the bonds of family and shun their own daughter, that has you deciding not to be a part of it.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Enjoy college. Get educated and get a good job. Be cautious with your relationship, and try to be smart. Forgive your friends, they know not what they do. And research JWs in a way you haven't before. It will help.
Welcome to the board. What is your major going to be?
